Our Vancouver Island branch (RCSVI) has partnered with youth leaders Aysha Emmerson and Jasper Johnston to support Dear Canada/Cher Canada, a new initiative designed to connect Canadians. Read more about this new initiative, as described by Jasper.
Dear/Cher Canada is a national project developed by a team of youth aimed at connecting Canadians, across geographies and generations, bringing them into a single conversation.
Our online platform enables people to create a digital “postcard” on which they can write a brief note, sharing a hope, hardship, or message of gratitude, and upload an image. Since launching on Canada Day, hundreds of Canadians from every province have participated and written extremely thoughtful cards, while thousands more have visited the site to read the cards.
Leaders including prominent mayors and MPs have participated and several Canadian organizations have also joined our movement. In addition to RCSVI’s support with publicity, TELUS will donate one dollar per virtual postcard to COVID-19 relief, up to $10,000. We are also currently in the process of finalizing a partnership with Historica Canada, who will help make all postcards a part of the national COVID-19 archive, ensuring every card is permanently a part of Canada’s history and collective memory for future generations to explore.
We are grateful for the support RCSVI has provided us with thus far.
Be sure to visit www.dearcanadians.ca and write a card!
